When I see a shining example of the way we were meant to be, I can’t help myself… I just have to promote it.

I have always believed that there is enough abundance in this world for everyone to have it all.  The difficulty has always been how to get the resources to where they need to be.

Portraits for Patriots is a shining example of how this can be done.

shining example

Human ingenuity is not to be underestimated, and this effort proves the point.  It is a win – win approach to moving much needed resources to wounded warrior charities to help improve the lives of those that have given more than their time in service to our country.

Portraits for Patriots will provide photographers for your event to capture the memories, and offer the portraits for sale online.  When a portrait is purchased, all proceeds over the cost of printing and shipping are donated.   Eron Iler of GPS Fleet Solutions in Wesley Chapel, FL, is the shining example responsible for this project.  His vision is to assist photographers across the nation to take up the cause and provide Portraits for Patriots in their own communities.

The bible teaches us that we are each gifted with God given talents that we are to use for the benefit of others.  The apostle Paul wrote,

Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.   In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you.  If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well.  If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.   Romans 12:4-8 (NLT)

The shining example among us is not necessarily one that stands out as far superior, but rather one who simply takes what God has given them a talent and a passion for, and puts it to good use in service to others.  This is what servant leadership is all about. We all have something within us, that if properly developed and put to use would cause us to be a shining example to others.  Becoming that shining example is ultimately what God wants for us and is reflected throughout scripture.

In contrast, the world promotes competition for honor and privilege, and measures success in currency and popularity.  The world view of a shining example is not just a far cry from what God intended, but also can be damaging to our society and culture.  Competition in and of itself is not a bad thing, but in glorifying  competition we have in many ways lost touch with the importance of each and every individual.

Portraits of Patriots is a simple concept that focuses on what is truly important, a shining example and inspiration to be part of the solution to what is lacking in the world.  It is a call to action, to go out and do something that matters.
