It seems the hottest topic in success coaching circles these days is the law of attraction.  It is being packaged and sold in a myriad of ways, in variations that run the gamut from scientific to new age.  It is being treated like some new revelation, but the concept all boils down to what Jesus taught us about faith, and the mechanics of putting our faith into action.

I just hate it when men take credit for what God is doing.  That is not to say that the actions of man are irrelevant, they are quite relevant, but all Glory rightly belongs to God!  “The secret” was revealed in ancient times, and is no secret for those who have gone to the Source, the Word of God, to find it.  What troubles me most is that the word of God is a free gift, and not meant to be sold for a profit.  There is no shortcut or substitute for personal study that allows the Supreme Creator to impart to you wisdom and understanding of His universal laws. In short, “the secret” is simply faith in action.

Hebrews 11:1 “Now, faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” NKJV

But faith alone is only one part of the equation.  Faith in God, in conjunction with inviting Him and allowing Him to be Lord over your life, are keys to releasing the blessings we seek.

Matthew 17:19-21 “Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, ‘Why could we not cast it out?’  So Jesus said to them, ‘Because of your unbelief;  for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.  However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.’” NKJV

The vendors of the “shortcuts” can not carry you over the threshold from saying to doing.  They can not impart to you the essence of visualizing “things hoped for” nor the faith to truly believe they have “substance”.  Faith is a gift from God!  You will not come by faith without first seeking Him in earnest.  As you develop your faith and study His word, you will learn that every thought you hold important enough to dwell upon and speak about can be received as “things hoped for”, some by God, and some by the enemy, and that is why God’s word tells us that we must keep our thoughts obedient to Christ.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 “For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.  The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.  We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” NIV

No matter how much money you spend trying to find the easy answer and the magic formula, and no matter how much seed you sow with the “prosperity preachers”, unless you take the time and make the effort to connect to God in a very personal way, the understanding needed to release His blessings into your life will remain elusive.  Mountain moving faith is given to those who give over their heart, soul, mind, and strength to His keeping.

  1. Lynn, so true. The bible is the road map for human kind. It has been abused over time, but will never be replaced. You have a good understanding of the bible and that is such a gift to have. Enjoyed your article.

  2. I remember when I had my aha moment and figured this out. It all boils down to God’s word and the answers are all there. The amazing thing is as they seek they do find many times running straight into God and that is when it is cool. Yes sowing seed is a gift you truely have to comprehend much like planting a field but it is also the most amazing gift God actually says test me on this. I wish so many could comprehend how important it is. Thanks for the article. I know it spoke for alot of people and I think it will make others stop and think.

  3. Hey Lynn Great post.

I definitely agree. You need to not only believe in yourself but being true to God and being honest with others and yourself will always take you in the right path.

When I was in an offline company this is something they preached upon and it does bring in more honesty and integrity.

  4. Great post Lynn…It is so true that today, people act like this whole law of attraction is a new concept in life when in fact its based on the simple teachings in the bible. The golden rule encompasses the whole idea of the law of attraction. It just goes to show how in todays society, how far we have gotten away from those teachings.

    Great post.
