Making Disciples – The Blueprint for Network Marketing

Tuesday, April 19th, 2011

blueprintLast night I had the privilege of hearing Pastor Leonardo Diaz from Manzanillo, Cuba speak his passion to a small group at a local Church in Tampa.  I knew in advance that his topic would be about church growth and the things of God that fuel increasing revival on the small island of Cuba. What I was not prepared for was the striking resemblance between the process of discipleship he spoke of, and the network marketing industry, when it is done with honesty and integrity.    No wonder so many people are attracted to network marketing… God is the genius who came up with the plan!

I am sure you are wondering just how I made that connection, so I will take it one step at a time.  Pastor Leo began with his own testimony.  In his early years as a pastor he sought God’s direction for his ministry.  He studied the scriptures diligently as he asked for Gods direction, and God answered his prayer with this passage just as He had answered the wise King Solomon. Small Victories Matter

small victories matter

Just in case you have been reading my posts for a while and have primarily been exposed to my “spiritual side”, I feel that I should preface this post by confessing that marketing is my profession. That being said, I have come to understand that I am on a spiritual journey seeking wisdom and understanding, and must be able to define the keys to my success, both material and spiritual, from that spiritual vantage point.

You may want to read that over a few times until it sinks in.   In many ways it appears to be a paradox, and frankly, I had to re-write it several times before it captured what I really wanted to convey.  I am on a spiritual journey seeking wisdom and understanding, and must be able to define the keys to my success, both material and spiritual, from that spiritual vantage point.

My goal is to acquire and share the wisdom that will carry me, and everyone who will go with me, to a life of abundance for body, mind, and spirit, victorious over an uncertain future that looms large and foreboding.

We humans often have lofty goals and we naturally desire success.  It may seem at first like you can’t get there from here, but the only (more…)

The Truth About Taking Risks

Sunday, January 30th, 2011

One thing common to people who achieve a high level of success is their willingness to take risks. One of my early mentors always posed these two questions when I was considering a risky move. “What is the worst thing that could happen?” and “If that worst thing did happen, what would the damage be?”

The point is that in most cases, if the risk taken did not result in success, it would have left me in no worse circumstances than if I had not taken the risk. In business, for example, let’s say you have a very promising prospect that becomes unresponsive and won’t take your calls. You know your product or service is exactly what they need, and you could go over your prospects head and call the CEO, but you hesitate because that could damage your relationship if he takes offense. What is the worst thing that could happen? (more…)

Andy Stanley’s Upside of Tension vs. Problem Solving Conflict Resolution

Saturday, October 9th, 2010

Andy Stanley

Andy Stanley, from North Point Community Church in Alpharetta, GA, is next up in my series on the 2010 Willow Creek Global Leadership Summit.   The subject matter was foreign to me, as I have always tended toward resolving tensions and keeping my personal space a “zero drama zone.”  I was pretty proud of my problem solving conflict resolution skills.  Apparently, I had something important to learn.

Andy began by stating that in every organization there are problems that shouldn’t be solved and tensions that shouldn’t be resolved.  My curiosity was piqued, but I was not expecting to be convinced of this.  (more…)

Cherokee Wisdom – Two Wolves

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010

Thanks to Debbie who posted this on facebook today…  I just had to share it.

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.  He said, “My son, the battle is between two wolves inside us all…

One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf wins?”

The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

Karen’s Question

Saturday, September 25th, 2010

I visited a blog at the suggestion of a friend this morning to read a post titled “You Are NOT the Issue…So Don’t Sabotage Yourself” and was very pleased to find wisdom there.  As I posted my comment, I realized that my comment was indeed a post in its own right, so I wanted to share it with you.

Nate’s post discussed how many new marketers fail because they are inwardly focused and think it is all about them or their product or opportunity.  Nate, from his own experience and wise understanding, cautions them to stop talking about themselves, and focus on others.

A comment was left by Karen asking, “What is my message then?”  After commenting to the author, Nate, I felt compelled to address Karen’s question, and thought the answer valuable enough to also share it with you. (more…)
